Submachine 2 – an early but playable sketch of the location
play this sketch | comment | walkthrough | secrets guide
So this is that Submachine 2 sketch I talked about in previous post. You might know this screen grab from early versions of Submachine 1 – it was supposedly a preview of the second part. Back then I didn’t recognize the most valuable feature of the Submachine – the moving rooms system. Luckily for the game once I realised that – I started working on Sub2 from scratch, and this sketch fell into oblivion. Until now. I’m showing you this because it’s a strange thing to see Submachine in this normal pnc view version. Enjoy.
thanks so much for posting this! if you have anything else like this for the other games, i would love it if you shared them too!
No, this is the only sketch that I have. After redoing the Sub2 to the normal version, things went smoothly afterwards. Sub3, 4 etc didn’t have any early version that didn’t see the light.
Only mr. Skutnik knows what we can find behind this door.
[talking about the blood door] In fact I don’t. I didn’t get that far in story construction to create story behind that door. But it was supposed to be a mystery throughout this game. Maybe explained at the end. Or maybe not. Hard to tell really.

Mateusz, you did great games, I loved convert front, all the “submachines” and the freak daymare town but… Submachine 2 Sketch dissapointed all fans of your games… what happened?? well, hope you make a better one next time! bye. xxxxx ;)

Marta,
Remember that this was an unfinished game that was made anew into a fantastic game. This is the PROTOTYPE, and not the original version. When Skutnik realized that keeping Submachine to his format, rather than regular pnc format, he let this bare-bones project slip into oblivion (or at least hiding somewhere in his computer files). You said that with this (which was NEVER supposed to be released, although Mateusz changed his mind), he was disappointing ALL of his fans. How DARE you speak on the behalf of millions of online-game consumers, without anteceded knowledge. Without consulting anyone, you automatically assume that everyone has the exact same opinion as you. Really, use some common sense, not everyones preferences are alike. This sketch was not a completed game, it was a ‘behind the scenes’ look of what game developers (preferably him) go through every day. Ideas are scrapped, original plans are forgotten, and different variations of certain variables are tested, most of which are declined, resulting in the game developer to choose which suit his game best. Skutnik was still learning the ropes of making a sequel, when he changed plans and prefected the pnc genre. His old prototype was left buried in his files. Mateusz gave this to us as a PRIVILIDGE, because he wanted to provide MILLIONS of gamers with some fan service (knowing that only the most hardcore of Submachine fans would appreciate it). So, next time YOU have an opinion, please speak on YOUR OWN behalf, and not the behalf of MILLIONS. I for one, quite enjoyed the sketch, it was a great experience for me. Oh, and sorry for practically ripping your head off with my harsh words. I hope that you are not offended and do not take it personally.
Thanks,
Zack :)

It is NOT playable :-(

I found this REALLY interesting, and a little bit disturbing. I was thinking it would be great if you added a couple of elements from the main story line (a letter, diary page or somethig) belonging to some other person who was ther AFTER us. Now we know we are not exactly alone it would be interesting perhaps finding out about someone else (Liz, maybe?); but on the whole OUTSIDE of our personal story and quest with Mur… No need to do it, JUST A THOUGHT…
See YA

*Doing the “I’ve found the 7th secret” dance*
Wow Zack. That’s quite a theory. I follow your logic…just. And I see where you’re coming from. But then how do you explain the emerging writing on the wall?
I’m not sure that there is such a well-developed metaphysical grounding in this development sketch – as evidenced by the fact it was scrapped and Sub2 is very different.
Top marks for effort though!!! And, like I say, I do see where you’re coming from.

I almost wish you would have kept the door with blood, I’m sure it would have made the story a little more dark.

May 31st, 2010 at 8:55 am
on the personal i didnt like it because of the movement
the story was great
mateusz i thin you shouldnt have removed the 7/30 secrets because that shows that this game is longer than the official version
on a note of sub 2 mur said that the cat has gone missing
what if the blood was from the cat? that would explain the marks on the wall
another thing
on sub 5 there is a door that you couldn open because it was covered with rocks
maybe you are still on the lighthouse?
May 31st, 2010 at 3:49 pm
The blood door was creepy, I can see why it was left out. Besides, isn’t a desserted lighthouse creepy enough?
June 6th, 2010 at 8:55 am
you should finish the sketch
June 29th, 2010 at 3:11 am
WTF nobody knows that the bloody door is actually the door back to the first room that has been locked and unlockable… Only from that room. Still can’t get where is the blood from.
July 5th, 2010 at 2:39 am

July 5th, 2010 at 9:41 pm
i can’t find the 6th secret!
July 5th, 2010 at 9:47 pm

September 6th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
The captain might have been killed. Either that, or it’s fake blood.
September 6th, 2010 at 9:17 pm
No its a dead cat
September 10th, 2010 at 7:01 pm
How do you know it is a dead cat? Even mr. Skutnik does not know what’s behind the bloody door. But in the final version of Submachine 2, the captain does say that his cat dissapears, so it is a little obious.
